Genesis and Longing

Four women, religious and secular, joining together into a movement that is a sweeping mixture of matter- woman- longing- prayer.

A dance connection in a yearning for a primal encounter, like the longing of the upper waters to the lower waters. Fluidity, crystallization, salt, mud, cracks and images of a woman channeling longing through her way.

A wall that becomes a world, opening up from a projected video art of a woman forming with the materials of creation.A dance forming from the raw to the human and to a wonder.

Beyond the wall- beyond consciousness- beyond separateness- beyond the local realityand toward a world of possibilities, of first light

Sharon Hilleli Assa

A choreographer, dancer-creator for stage and screen, dance researcher, and educator with over 30 years of experience. Her works seek to touch society through art. Her primary focus is creating connections and communication through the art of dance. Among these are works that foster Arabic-Hebrew connection, bridges between religious and secular communities, ties between humans and nature, links between the art of dance and multidisciplinary galleries, and intersections between dance and cinema.
