The VR Dance project allows for the filming of dance works in 360 format and their presentation using VR glasses in the halls of a complete dance center with professional VR glasses or for viewing from anywhere else using other virtual viewing glasses.

The project was launched at the end of June 2021 and presented stage dance works that were recorded using VR 360 technology for viewing on VR Headset devices, which allowed for interactive viewing of the performances, with the viewer's point of view constituting a peripheral experience of the performance and the possibility of moving to observe the event from a different perspective in space, at any moment they choose.

The virtual experience simulated the viewer watching a dance performance, able to move freely anywhere in the space, around the stage and even in its center, surrounded by dancers, sound, and lighting. The program featured the following works:

  • Opening performance PheNoumenon by THE Singapore Band

  • A selection of the center's original productions adapted for virtual viewing in VR glasses.

  • As part of a collaboration with the Israel Festival, we will upload new dance works from the "Spiritual Ties" project for virtual viewing.

  • VR Dance Production in collaboration with the CWP Center New York. Alongside the events for viewing in VR goggles, we will launch a new series of selected dance videos from around the world, curated by a Jerusalem-based artistic committee including Joanna Blickman, Liron Ben Yaakov, and Daniel Lemnsdorf.

Another phase of the project was created in collaboration with the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in which additional works by Lotam Regev, Ravid Abarbanel, Rachel Erdos and Irad Avni were broadcast to approximately 100 directors of dance festivals, centers and Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs representations around the world. The directors were sent VR goggles to watch tastings of Israeli dance works, with the aim of developing a repertoire that the directors could watch in the future, commission them and open a window into the fascinating world of virtual dance.
