VR DANCE

Art meets innovation

For details and contact

The Jerusalem-based MASH Dance House leads an innovative project that makes high-quality contemporary culture accessible to diverse communities through immersive virtual and augmented reality experiences.

The unique format uses cutting-edge technology to create a 360° performance experience, placing the viewer at the heart of the stage environment—able to move freely and watch the unfolding performance from just a touch away.

This groundbreaking platform brings stage performances into the virtual realm, creating a unique meeting point between culture and innovation.

MASH specializes in producing and adapting cultural content for virtual and mixed-reality formats, offering a rich variety of artistic experiences. The center maintains a fleet of 30 VR headsets, enabling synchronized group viewing sessions and VR Dance events across Israel and worldwide. These events are designed for a wide range of audiences — students, art lovers, at-risk youth, schools, senior homes, and more.

Each session fosters social interaction and shared experience, while also allowing for private, individual viewing. The new technology has proven to be a powerful tool in reducing isolation among hospitalized individuals, evacuees, people in remote areas, and disconnected communities. It also expands access to cultural experiences, helping to build bridges between communities regardless of physical or geographic limitations.

This initiative significantly broadens audience engagement and cultural participation, offering high-quality artistic content to those who might otherwise have limited access.

In 2025 MASH  launched the Alpha phase of a new application that enables dancers, who are physically distant from one another, to meet online in real-time within a shared 3D virtual space. This initiative is part of MASH Dance House’s ongoing research into the potential of advanced reality technologies and their dedicated development for use in the field of dance.

The new application allows dancers to wear a VR headset and be transported into a virtual space where they can connect with dancers from different locations worldwide. Together, they can rehearse, dance, and even perform in the virtual environment.

The development of the application is a collaboration with F-narrative and is supported by the Jerusalem Municipality’s Arts Department.
The project is led by Ruby Edelman, CEO of MASH Dance House, in collaboration with Dr. Zvi Tubul-Lavy , a researcher and developer of virtual reality experiences and virtual worlds.
