מופע מחול לילדים וילדות

In 2021, the center produced three new dance works by Neta Polbermacher, Rachel Erdos, and Inbal Aloni, which will premiere with professional guidance from Adi Navon in the field of autism.

The project is sponsored by the HaPais Council for Culture and the Arts and the Jerusalem Municipality.

As part of the Encounters Between Community and Dance, the Shalem Dance Center has established a series of dance performances specifically for children and youth on the autism spectrum. The center is currently hosting the house show “Amphibious” by Robbie Edelman – a work that has been presented in dozens of schools as part of a cultural basket in Israel and around the world.

The show is adapted for children with neurological challenges and people on the autism spectrum with low, medium and high functioning. The adaptations include advance preparation for families or classes arriving to watch before the day of the show, a familiarization tour of the complex upon the children's arrival, the option of flexible seating in the hall, the use of tactile balls during the show, and cards that allow children to choose whether they want to actively participate in the show or just watch. In addition, soft and adapted lighting and sound are used, and professional accompaniment allows for a break in a designated quiet room when necessary.

At the end of the show, a customized session takes place, inviting children and youth to join the dancers, dance, and create an interactive, safe, and exciting experience together.

The project was established in collaboration with the Jerusalem Municipality and the Lottery Council.
